Craig Gravitz, Director, Project Accelerator Transition Innovation Office (PATIO), ARPA-H

Craig Gravitz is designing and implementing the transition and commercial strategy for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). Before joining ARPA-H, Mr. Gravitz launched and ran a research and development program at the Defense Logistics Agency. That program was inspired not only by DARPA but also by private sector innovation models like design thinking and lean start-ups. Using those models, he developed an effective framework to translate work into real-world environments: real people used those innovations. He is a licensed attorney and has previously served as a contracting officer.

Brittany Connors, PMP, Director of Investor Relations NCI SBIR

Brittany Connors, serves as the Director of Investor Relations at NCI SBIR. She has worked at NCI SBIR in various roles since 2013, playing a major role in the center’s Investor Initiatives program. She has maintained a vast network and works with more than 70 industry-leading investors and strategics each year to review the NCI SBIR portfolio and to select companies to attend and pitch at events like BIO, Biotech Showcase, RESI, and more.

Sabrina Martucci Johnson, Founder and CEO of Daré Bioscience

Sabrina Martucci Johnson is the Founder and CEO of Daré Bioscience (NASDAQ:DARE), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company driven by a mission to identify, develop, and bring to market a diverse portfolio of novel therapies that expand treatment options, improve outcomes, and facilitate convenience for women. Before founding Daré, Sabrina was President of WomanCare Global Trading, a global provider of women’s health products, CFO/CAO of the California Institute for Biomedical Research (currently Calibr-Skaggs Institute for Innovative Medicines, part of Scripps Research), CFO/COO of Cypress Bioscience, Inc. (NASDAQ:CYPB), held marketing and sales positions with Advanced Tissue Sciences, and began her career in the biotechnology industry as a research scientist with Baxter Healthcare, Hyland Division, working on the recombinant factor VIII program.  

Ryan Pawell,  Founder & CEO, Indee Labs; Venture Partner, Axial VC; Venture Partner, Pioneer Fund

Ryan Pawell is the founder and CEO at Indee Labs. He is a subject matter expert in biomicrofluidics. The team at Indee Labs has also been successful in developing Hydropore with various forms of support from SOSV/IndieBio, Y Combinator, Founders Fund, Social Capital, Main Sequences Ventures, Jobs for NSW, NSW Health, AusIndustry, MTP Connect, NSW Health Medical Device Fund, Australian Research Council and the National Institutes of Health also among others. He was named a 2022 Top 101 biotech CEO in California by Best Startup and a Rising Star in VC by other VCs in Business Insider.

Commander Michael Banyas, Senior Officer, U.S. Public Health Service and Health Specialist National Institute of Minority Health Disparities (NIMHD)

Commander Michael Banyas is a Senior Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service and a Health Specialist at the National Institute of Minority Health Disparities (NIMHD). The mission of NIMHD is to lead the nation’s scientific research to improve minority health and reduce health disparities. In his role, he is the Program Director for NIMHD’s SBIR/STTR program and oversees an award budget of almost $20.5 million and over 100 awardees. CDR Banyas specializes in underserved health care and public health systems with a focus on implementation science. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont, a Master in Public Administration in Health Management and Policy from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service, graduate work in health informatics from Columbia University, and a Master of Arts at the U.S. Naval War College.

Ashim Subedee, Director of the Catalyst Office at the Division of Research, Innovation, and Ventures (DRIVe) at the Biomedical Research & Development Authority (BARDA), within the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS)

Ashim leads a team dedicated to fostering health security innovation ecosystem and commercialization of technologies through several novel public private partnerships including BARDA Ventures – venture capital investment partnership, BARDA Accelerator Network – partnerships to provide accelerator services and proof of concept funding, and  Blue Knight program – incubation focused partnership with J&J Innovation JLabs. Prior to BARDA, Ashim was at the NIH where he supported biomedical entrepreneurship and product development by both academic and small business innovators at the NCI Small Business Development Center,  NIH Small Business Education and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) Office, and the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) program.
